Capitola

Welcome to Capitola

A one-of-a-kind coastal town with European charm.

Capitola is a coastal community that offers charm and inspiration from European and Venician stylings. Its 10,000 residents have quite the collection of restaurants, bakeries, boutiques, and art galleries. You'll be in awe daily of the brightly colored buildings and bright sunny beaches.

Capitola began as a small tourism spot but blossomed in the 1970s as people realized they were more interested in living there instead of just visiting. Since then, this classic beachfront city was named one of Sunset Magazine's Best Beach Towns.

Things to Do

The first thing you'll want to do is take in all the sights and charm along Capitola Beach. There you'll find a row of different colored homes that initially began as condominiums in the 1920s.

The oceanfront village is full of restaurants, boutiques, salons, and galleries. Pick up a picnic lunch and head to the beach or rent a board and take a surf lesson! The village also hosts many events from Art and Wine to Surfing Santa throughout the year. It's also home to the annual Begonia Festival and the Capitola Twilight Concert series.

Capitola City Beach has been a popular destination for swimming, surfing, and beach volleyball for over 140 years. Boat and fishing rentals are available at the Capitola Wharf. The New Brighton State Beach is also a popular destination for locals offering miles of beaches, campsites, and picnic areas inside the urban forests, Monterey Pines, and Coastal Live Oaks.
